It being ascertained that the Ladies' Memorial Association was greatly in need of funds to carry out the purposesjof the Associationjthe following preamble and resolution were' presented and adopted: Wiiebeas, We have learned that there are graves of our departed comrades in eur cemetery whose relatives are either absent or not pecuniarly able to bestow on them . that care and attention which they '80 richly deserve; and, whereas, we have! learned that the funds in ,tho hands of the Ladies' Memorial Association are insufficient for this duty, as well as for defraying the necessary expenses attend ing the annual arenaonies; and, whereas, the ladies have heretofore not given the gentlemen an opportunity of expressing theirj interest by contributing to these ex penses; therefore, be it Hf solved, That it is the opinion of those present that it is the sentiment of all ex- Confederates that the graves of our com rades ahouldnot be allowed to show any signs of neglect, and that the ladies should be encouraged by our pecuniary aid, aa well as sympathetic nentiments, to perpetuate these ceremonies in a be coming manner, and that a committee of five be appointed to open subscription lists for this purpose, and . tender the money to the Ladies' Memorial Associan tion In accordance with the above resolution the following gentlemen were appointed as a Committee to solicit contributions for the purpose mentioned: Messrs. J. G( Wright, H. O. Prempert, E. H.JKing, T. D. Meares, and J. C. Stevenson. j .Plows, Shovels, Pitehiorks, Spades Rakes, Trace Chains, Plow Lines, &c. M. Gardner in the Chair and A. A. Dudley acting as Secretary. The ostensible purpose of the meeting was for the appointment of delegates to the Greenback Convention and a Committee irona the Committee had retired to the Committee room, to consider and recom mend proper persons as delegates when "Co,.M Tecamseh Cut-Iar obtained the floor! upon a question of personal privi-lege-L-being recognized by the teoopcrzry Chairman, Mr. Curtis, for that purpose. ThepCol." then proceeded to "orate" to a rery consideraDie extent. He vowed and declared or,rather parties who heard him told us that he swore and bed--dthat "the meeting consisted of nothing but a pareel of d d ignorant niggers who did not know what they come yer fur." The Chairman tried to silence 'Cor Cut lar but the bug juice in the Col' was working lively about that time and the CoL jast told them: up and down that he wonld not sit down nor be sat down on either, and then in ,& Patrick Henry sort of style, he exclaim ed, if this be treason make the most of it,! and thsy do say that some of tthe Col's expressions were neither chaste ner select. The Grtenbaclfers are cohie quently in high dudgeon at the interfer ence1 of Oat lar whom they claim is not a Greenbacker, and they declare their in tention of having him indicted for dis turbing their meeting. . . . -f We learn frosn another party that the Committee selected as delegate to Greens box9f Capt F M Woo ten and John A Holt; Alternates Capt 8 W Nobles and A A" Dudley.
